The Alberta Government just bought 20 million masks (non-medical) that are now available for free at your closest A&W, McDonald's Canada and Tim Hortons drive-thru locations. All these masks are here to help us minimize the spread of COVID - 19 and potentially other viruses coming from yourself. Please note that there's no real evidence showing the masks will protect you from those that are infected - they're meant to protect others. With that in mind, there's research stating that 100% face masks use could crush a second or third wave of COVID-19. Wearing a mask will help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 and other airborne viruses. Even if you're asymptomatic, you could be carrying the virus. There's currently a debate on the percentage of asymptomatic infected people - it could be as high as 80%! So let's all err on the side of caution and help protect each other especially our older Canadians - who are at greater risk of severe outcomes.
For more information on how to get your free masks, visit the Alberta government's website: https://www.alberta.ca/masks.aspx

Welcome Back!
We are excited to announce that Amy Wan will be accepting acupuncture patients starting June 12. Active Chiropractic will be continuing to meet our commitment to patient safety. Please note booking procedures include pre-screening questions and staggered appointments to ensure physical distance is maintained in our clinic. Acupuncture services will be available soon. We are waiting for a directive from the College & Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta. We want to make sure we can ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Alberta Health Services is starting to loosen up with a 3-Stage relaunch plan. The first stage will allow non-essential health services to reopen provided that "The college of each regulated health profession will be responsible for providing guidelines to its members who operate community health care clinics." With this guideline the College & Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta has given Registered Acupuncturist notice: "... Acupuncture is NOT a part of the non-essential health services which were allowed to resume business (in Alberta). ACUPUNCTURE REMAINS URGENT CARE ONLY. " At this time any Acupuncture done by a Registered Acupuncturist will have to wait. Please contact us if you have any questions.

I just want to say, that we are all in this together. At times we may feel like we are alone, but we are not. The ENTIRE world is going through what we are going through and yes, the unknown is a bit scary. But rest assured, we will get through this and we will be stronger knowing we all have gotten through this together.
Here's a quick message that we had posted on March 26. Click on the image below to view: There is nothing more important to us than your health and safety. To do our part in helping everyone stay safe, and in support of the collective efforts against COVID-19, we made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend acupuncture services effective immediately. Please visit this site for any updates. If you need to reach us, please call the clinic at 780-439-4321 or complete the “Inquires or Appointment Requests” and we'll get back to you soon!
Please stay safe and continue to support one another. We will get through this together. Amy Wan March 17 2020 – Acupuncture update
For now, Acupuncturist Amy Wan has reduced her hours to Tuesday and Friday 2-6pm. We are committed to providing you care in a safe environment during this time of uncertainty. The following precautions have taken in effect:
We will continue to monitor and navigate these unprecedented times with everyone’s safety and wellness in mind. Thank you, Amy Wan, R.Ac. Registered acupuncturist located in Active Chiropractic Dear Clients,
This is a challenging time around the world and here at home in Edmonton. Knowing that you might have concerns, especially about visiting your health care provider, I want to reinforce that your health and safety as well as our team are at the heart of everything we do at this clinic. As we continue to learn more about the risks of COVID-19 (also known as the Coronavirus), we remain committed to ensuring you are safe and comfortable. Currently, COVID-19 poses a low risk to Canadians, however, we’re closely monitoring the public health agencies and the government to implement additional prevention measures as the situation evolves. We appreciate your understanding that, although we’re doing everything we can to maintain a safe and comfortable environment, your experience during this time may be a little different than what you’ve come to expect. Although our daily cleanliness and hygiene practices already meet Health Canada’s standards, we’ve taken steps to help ensure both you and our team members are protected from the risk of infection and communicable diseases. • We’ve increased how often we clean our rooms. • We are introducing rigorous additional cleaning procedures, and are increasing the number of wipes, hand sanitizers, and other cleaning materials available. •Our team members have been trained in preventive and reactive measures as recommended by Health Canada. • We are continually monitoring the level of risk associated with COVID-19 and ensure the procedures we’re implementing are appropriate and communicated to our employees and clients. If you choose to change your appointment, we understand. You can cancel or modify your appointment at any time prior to your booking between March and April and receive no penalty. The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and we’ll continue to respond to the latest developments, while keeping you informed. I invite you to visit the AHS website that will have the most updated information for all health announcements in Alberta. Please remember that the most effective way to prevent the spread of disease are things you do yourself. • Wash your hands often - use the 20 second rule. • When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with a tissue or the inside of your elbow. • If you have flu-like symptoms, inform the people around you, and stay home. If your symptoms aren’t mild, seek medical care by calling 811 in Alberta. Thank you for your understanding. On behalf of all of us, let me again say how committed we are to ensuring the safety of our clients. Sincerely, Amy Western medicine has been an integral part of our lives here in Edmonton. We take an ibuprofen for a muscle pain or we may take an acetaminophen for a head ache. Sometimes we take a prescribed medication to help with more serious ailments. This is great in treating and managing the symptoms, but have we gotten to the root of the problem? It's time to sit down and really analyze what we are doing in our lives from our diets, physical activity, environment, etc. Our body is always sending us signals - we should always listen to it.
